About coily hair

Coily hair is a hair texture characterized by tight, spring-like coils or zigzag patterns. It is the most tightly curled hair type and has a natural texture that is highly dense and voluminous. Coily hair is often referred to as "kinky" or "afro-textured" hair. The coils are tightly packed together and can range from small and compact to larger and more elongated coils. Coily hair has a natural elasticity and shrinkage, which means that it may appear shorter than its actual length when dry. It requires special care and attention to maintain moisture, as it is prone to dryness and breakage. Coily hair can be styled in various ways, including afros, twist-outs, braids, and protective styles, showcasing the hair's unique texture and versatility.

Your coily hair routine

Make your routine manageable by working in sections you can comfortably reach. Coils can vary across the head, so let each section guide how you distribute your products rather than applying a fixed amount everywhere.

1. Cleanse your scalp

Shake African Black Soap Shampoo before use and apply to damp hair. Massage with your fingertips at the scalp, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid rough scrubbing or piling the lengths together while cleansing.

2. Condition and detangle gently

Work Shea Butter Conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to ease apart tangles and distribute the conditioner. Follow the product directions for the leave-on time, then rinse before moving on to styling.

3. Apply your styling layers

Distribute Leave-In Conditioner through your hair in sections. Smooth Avocado Curl Cream through the lengths as you style; its published directions allow use on wet or dry hair. Choose the finish you prefer, whether you are shaping loose coils or arranging your hair into twists or braids.

4. Finish and refresh

A few drops of Hair Oil, spread evenly through the hair, can finish your routine. A little goes a long way. For a refresh between wash days, lightly dampen the sections you want to reshape, apply leave-in conditioner through them and restyle gently.
