Our History
Born to an English Father and Ghanaian Mother, we are two sisters on a mission to bring the best natural and organic African ingredients to the UK market. Growing up in a dual heritage household, it was difficult to find a hair routine that worked for us. After searching for the perfect leave-ins, conditioners and curl creams our whole lives and failing to find a complete range suitable for our hair, we decided to make a range of our own: a sustainable, effective and clean haircare brand, that is organic, good for your hair and makes a good impact on the world.
We work with co-operatives in Ghana to source our ingredients and after three years and a LOT of testing on our curls, we've found our perfect formulas! Beauty rituals have always been a bonding experience for us growing up, with our Ghanaian mother doing our hair on Sundays using shea butters and natural ingredients from her motherland, Ghana. However, we always struggled to find these ingredients in products in mainstream stores. So we set out to make effective, natural, clean and affordable hair products. Many people with curly hair face challenges when it comes to finding suitable hair products. The market is flooded with options that promise to tame frizz, define curls, and moisturise, but often fall short of delivering on these promises. For those with dual heritage, like us, the problem is even more pronounced, as our hair often has different textures, densities, and porosity levels. As a result, we found ourselves constantly switching between different products, never quite finding the right combination that worked for us.
That's why we created a haircare brand that offers a complete range of products specifically formulated for curly hair. We named the range Curl Kitchen as our products contain powerful ingredients such as; Yam, Okra and Baobab that can be found in every West African Kitchen. Through discovery and passion, we’ve curated our perfect curl range. We are so excited to share it all with you. With love, from our roots, to yours.
